Former Critic of PM’s Leadership Asks for Forgiveness, CPP Membership

PHNOM PENH: A man who publicly criticized the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen issued an apology for his transgressions. On May 4, Dy Kunthea, who used to be a commentator for foreign media broadcasters in Khmer, apologized and asked to join the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

Dy Kunthea had previously criticized the PM while working for the Cambodia Daily and Radio Free Asia. He issued an apology to the PM yesterday, owning his offences and asking forgiveness.

He added that he fell into opposition politics due to his ignorance of the works of the Royal Government under Hun Sen’s leadership. He would now like to join the CPP and use his skills to participate in building Cambodian society with the leading political party. The PM responded by assigning Kunthea to a provincial party working group in Siem Reap.

Dy Kunthea is a former State Government Officer in the Ministry of Education. He also served as a technical advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Interior. He previously made frequent appearances in interviews for international news broadcasters The Cambodia Daily and Radio Free Asia.
