More Than 2,000 National And International Journalists to Cover SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: The Chairman of the Information and Dissemination Committee of CAMSOC, Phos Sovann, confirmed that a total of 2,095 national and international journalists are registered to cover the 2023 SEA Games.

At the opening ceremony of the Main Press Center (MPC) at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on April 29, he said, "The role of journalists as the eyes and ears of the world in this event is absolutely vital. Journalists have the opportunity to witness history being created and will bring this history to millions of people around the world."

He pointed out that the MPC was designed to accommodate up to 500 journalists. The MPC offers work space, press conference rooms, computers, internet access, TVs and snacks for journalists.

According to Phos Sovann, the MPC will be open from April 29 to May 18, 2023. He added that the venue is meant for journalists to use as a workplace and to hold press conferences. providing similar services and facilities to the MPC, the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) is set up to receive video and audio from the events and disseminate it to the media.

He said that at present, seven international TV stations licensed by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) have rented booths to receive broadcasts from the IBC, including RTM Malaysia, T SPORT7 Thailand, VTV HTV Vietnam, Media Corp Singapore, MNC TV Indonesia and Cignal TV Philippines.

He said that journalists could download photos from the official sports broadcast for free, while the CAMSOC has paired with CSTV sports television as the official broadcaster of 11 sports. The National Television Association is designated as an official broadcaster for ten sports. He also mentioned that journalists can take a provided bus for free by simply showing their press pass. He instructed all journalists to report the truth and to work together to fight fake news.

Prime Minister Hun Sen called on national and international journalists to abide by professional ethics along with rules and regulations of the National Organizing Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 and to be highly responsible in maintaining order in the field.

The 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games will be attended by about 7,000 athletes and coaches and around 2,000 technical officials, judges and referees.
