PM: CPP Open to Everyone, Regardless Of Political Past

PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister welcomed Ear Channa to the Cambodian People’s Party and said that the CPP is always open to accepting all kinds of people, regardless of political affiliation.

His remarks came after Ear Channa, who had just been released on bail, released an apology video and wrote a letter requesting to join the CPP. He said that he wanted to join the CPP because he saw the success of the PM and wants to serve the motherland with the largest party in Cambodia. In response, CCP President and Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen welcomed him to the party and said that the CPP is always open everyone, regardless of their past.

"The Cambodian People's Party is always open to accepting people from all walks of life, regardless of past political tendencies, in order to mobilize manpower, intellectual resources and wealth in order to maintain peace and continue to build the country under the shadow of peace," he said.

Ear Channa was arrested by Cambodian authorities on May 30, 2022 at Aeon Mall 2 in Phnom Penh's Sen Sok district after returning to Cambodia and participating in the election campaign with the Candlelight Party in Takeo province on May 27, 2022.

He was taken into custody at Prey Sar Prison on charges of "conspiracy" in connection with Cambodia National Rescue Party VP Mu Sochua's return from exile in early 2021. Ear Channa recently realized his mistake and apologized for his actions. With the help of the Prime Minister, he was released on bail on May 1, 2023.
