Phnom Penh Instructs Businesses and Citizens to Clean Up and Beautify Ahead of SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: The Phnom Penh Capital Hall has instructed the owners of houses, shopping malls, commercial buildings, factories, enterprises, resorts, entertainment centers, Boreys, hotels and condominiums to clean their yards, decorate with lights and hang the Cambodian flag in front of their property to celebrate Cambodia as the host of the 2023 SEA-PARA Games.

The Phnom Penh Capital Hall wants all public and private institutions to decorate with banners and slogans that reflect national achievements and team spirit. They reiterated that decorations should be well-fastened and in proportion to the size of the building so as to avoid risking safety or aesthetic value.

They specified that to beautify properties, lights should be put up at the front of buildings and in trees. In supermarket and commercial building entrances, they requested gardens and water fountains be decorated with lights; and for reserved spaces to be equipped with TVs to broadcast the games.

Tourism businesses must put up the slogan "Visit Cambodia in 2023" in conjunction with 2023 SEA-PARA Games logos to promote the industry. Approved symbols include the "Borey and Rumduol" rabbit mascots for the games, and the slogans “Cambodia, the Kingdom of Wonder Welcomes You” and “Every Day is a Wonder.”

All retailers in Phnom Penh must sell quality goods with the correct price labelled. All homes, businesses and construction sites in the capital must participate in maintaining and cleaning their property and surrounding environment in addition to collecting, storing and packing garbage or other waste properly and ensuring it is put out for scheduled collection.

Homes and businesses in Phnom Penh must refrain from drying clothes or placing appliances at the front of buildings to avoid eyesores. Vacant land and construction sites located along the boulevards and main streets must be fenced to improve aesthetics and maintain order.
