Ministry of Health Issues Health and Safety Recommendations for the SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: To ensure safe and responsible participation in the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games, the Ministry of Health has issued a list of health and safety recommendations for people to follow when attending the games.

The instruction issued by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, 27 April 2023, calls on citizens not to huddle or crowd together in large groups and to lessen crowd congestion, especially in narrow spaces, in order to prevent fainting or collapse, and to especially avoid pushing one another. The instruction also reminds citizens that if they begin to feel dizzy or lightheaded, they should sit down and ask for help.

The Ministry of Health requests all spectators to maintain order, not crowd together in one place, and to, as much as possible, strive to have less than five people standing together per square meter for safety. If someone faints and falls unconscious in a crowd, the Ministry recommends citizens not to crowd around the person and to instead call for help as soon as possible and be tolerant of one other.

The Ministry of Health has also warned against eating unsafe and unhealthy food that can cause food poisoning, diarrhea, cramps, nausea and vomiting. The Ministry urges citizens to maintain good hygiene and food safety, only eating food that has been well-cooked, and only drinking water that is clean or boiled.

The Ministry of Health is preparing 114 ambulances and a total of 833 doctors to be stationed at SEA Games' venues in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Kampot and Kep from 5-17 May 2023
