PM Encourages Export of High Quality Cambodian Products

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen noted that Cambodia's products are of good quality and do not use a lot of chemicals, which is an advantage in exporting to foreign markets.

In a meeting with the President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), Fumiaki Takahashi, at the Peace Palace on the afternoon of 26 April 2023, the PM asked Takahashi to promote the sale of Cambodian products in Japan, citing their high quality and lack of harmful chemicals. He also asked Japan to assist Cambodia in its mission to provide technical training to about 1.5 million impoverished people to help them find employment.

Takahashi summarized the progress of the JCA to the PM. The association organized an information forum on investment potential in Cambodia to disseminate to the Japanese public, especially Japanese small and medium enterprises looking for investment abroad. He expressed Japan’s willingness to promote the export of products from Cambodia to Japan and process Cambodian products for sale on the market. The JCA is also promoting the development of human resources in the beauty industry, beyond the traditional fields of mechanics and hospitality.

Takahashi went on to congratulate the PM for organizing and leading the ASEAN Summit and related summits with great success. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a fireworks display is set to take place on 19 September 2023.

The PM thanked Takahashi for reporting to him and encouraged the JCA to continue its efforts of attracting investors to Cambodia. Foreign investment is a main priority of Cambodia, who recently passed a new investment law which provides more incentive to those investing in Cambodia.
