Two Suspects on the Run after Jailbreak

PHNOM PENH: Authorities are pursuing two suspects who stole from the Russey Keo District Police Inspectorate on the night of 25 April 2023.

Phnom Penh Municipal Police spokesperson Colonel San Sok Seiha told EAC News that they were searching for two suspects: one foreigner charged in a stabbing and one Cambodian national who had stolen a car and fled to Banteay Meanchey province.

Colonel San Sok Seiha explained that the two suspects were able to escape due to a power outage caused by the heavy rain and strong winds last night. The prisoners used the outage as an opportunity to make their escape.

"For a moment, there was a power outage and we heard a commotion from the detention center. Our forces went in and saw that there was a hole about two meters from the ground that was big enough for someone to crawl out of," he said.

A spokesperson for the commission confirmed that authorities are currently searching for the two suspects.
