Kong Monika Appointed as Acting Secretary General of Candlelight Party

PHNOM PENH: The Candlelight Party has announced the appointment of Kong Monika as the new Acting Secretary General of the Candlelight Party, following the previous Secretary General of the party Ly Sothearayuth’s involvement in an adultery scandal.

In a statement released on Sunday, 23 April 2023, the party announced that Kong Monika, the previous Deputy Secretary General, will take on the role and duties of leading and managing the General Secretariat of the Candlelight Party, in accordance with the party's statutes and internal regulations.

The party’s previous Secretary General, Ly Sothearayuth, was recently embroiled in an adultery scandal after inappropriate phone conversations and audio recordings the married politician exchanged with many women leaked on social media.
