HAVANA: The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has praised the excellent relationship between Cuba and Cambodia.
According to a news release from the Cuban Embassy in Phnom Penh, the Cuban President received Letters of Credence from the newly appointed Ambassador of Cambodia in Havana, Chea Thireak, on Saturday, 15 April, which also marked the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Cuban President assured that there are excellent relations between Cuba and Cambodia, noting that the ties of cooperation and friendship are deep and historic. The Cuban President also spoke of the exchange of visits by the Prime Ministers of Cuba and Cambodia in 2022.
The new Cambodian Ambassador, in turn, expressed his deep gratitude to the people of Cuba for sending doctors to help care for Cambodians, as well as for the scholarships offered for the training of professionals in the Caribbean nation.
The Cambodian Ambassador further affirmed his commitment to work together with the Cuban government and other stakeholders to strengthen relations and take them to a higher level.
