PM: Small and Medium Enterprises are Part of the Informal Economy

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen remarked on the confusion over the term ‘informal economy’, while noting that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the part of the informal economy that the government is paying most attention to.

"We (the government) all refer to it as the informal economy,” he said. “In the past, there have been some people pretending to be informal economists, but they had no idea what the government was doing.”

The Prime Minister made this statement at the gathering and solidarity dinner with SMEs and Cambodian handicrafts businesses on Monday afternoon, 10 April 2023.
