Monks Make up More Than Half of Cambodia's army

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia said that since the liberation of the country from the Khmer Rouge, the field of Buddhism has been greatly promoted, there can now be seen that there are more than 50,000 monks across the country.

The Prime Minister said that this number was more than the number of doctors and equal to half of the number of defense troops in Cambodia.

"The Cambodian People's Party, which led before the liberation, formed a front. We have monks represented in the ranks of the leadership of the United Front for National Salvation of Cambodia," he said. "After the liberation of the country, our pagodas gradually increased until the number of monks increased from small to large."
