Cambodia Asks UK to Share Experience in Strengthening Law Enforcement Forces Against Transnational Crime

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Interior, DPM Sar Kheng, has affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia is highly committed to fighting against all kinds of transnational crime, human trafficking and drug trafficking.

The Minister of Interior made this statement during a courtesy call with the British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, on Wednesday, 5 April 2023.

British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, praised the efforts made to remove Cambodia from the FATF’s money laundering grey list, under the direct leadership of DPM Sar Kheng.

Ambassador Williams said he is pleased to be involved with ASEAN member countries in the fight against transnational crime and human trafficking. He described the work as a demonstration of the UK's commitment to maintaining good security in the region.

DPM Sar Kheng said that the fight against transnational crime and crimes against humanity cannot be done by Cambodia alone; the country requires cooperation at both the regional and global levels to achieve this difficult task.

In this regard, the Minister of Interior said he wished to see more strong cooperation between Cambodia and the United Kingdom, requesting the United Kingdom to share its experiences on good practices to strengthen and enhance the capacity of Cambodian law enforcement forces in the fight against transnational crime.
