Minister of Interior Instructs Law Enforcement Forces to Be Transparent During Election Process
PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Interior, DPM Sar Kheng, has instructed the relevant authorities, especially election security agents, to make sure to facilitate transparency and non-discriminatory practice during the elections.
DPM Sar Kheng made this statement during the ceremony to disseminate the joint instruction on the activities and organization of election security agencies in the campaign to protect the 7th National Assembly Election 2023 on Thursday, 6 April 2023.
DPM Sar Kheng said that the Capital-Provincial Permanent Security Command for the election is directly responsible for ensuring security, public order and social security in its geographical areas of responsibility during the upcoming 7th National Assembly Election in July.
"Relevant forces, especially election security agencies, must be neutral and properly comply with election law, regulations and procedures, as well as the code of conduct for election security agencies, who have to provide security services to all political parties, candidates, representatives of political parties, speakers, national and international observers and all citizens in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner,” said the Minister of Interior.
He also reminded all security forces to be vigilant and diligently follow their duties during the election and vote counting process, while cooperating well with election organization committees at all levels, as well as with polling station chiefs, so that the voting situation can be smoothly managed at all stations.
The 7th National Assembly Election of 2023 will be held on 23 July 2023.
