DPM Sar Kheng: Cambodia’s Removal from FATF Grey List Shows the Value of the Nation

PHNOM PENH: On 21 February 2023, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) General Assembly in Paris, France, officially approved the removal of Cambodia from its grey list on money laundering. The Minister of Interior, DPM Sar Kheng, has said that Cambodia’s removal from the grey list shows the value of the nation, both economically and politically.

DPM Sar Kheng made this statement this at a meeting of the National Coordinating Committee against money laundering, terrorism financing and financing for the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction on Monday morning, 3 April 2023.

The Minister of Interior commended the members of the national coordinating committee for their hard work, resulting Cambodia’s successful removal from the grey list.

He noted that the coordinating committee has done a great job over the past two years, despite simultaneously dealing with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and being occupied with other important national tasks.

However, the DPM added that the committee must jointly-continue its commitment to maintaining the current favorable situation in Cambodia.

The Minister of Interior previously instructed the capital, provincial, administrative unity command and the judicial police, to work together to eradicate money laundering, terrorism financing and financing for the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Cambodia, to better combat and suppress all forms of human trafficking, drug trafficking and illegal gambling of all kinds.
