Cambodian Red Cross Sends Condolences to China

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Red Cross President and the wife of the Prime Minister, Bun Rany Hun Sen has expressed condolences to the Red Cross Society of China following the historic flooding leaving at least 50 deaths. She says, “I am deeply saddened to learn that death toll continues to rise and over 1.2 million people have been evacuated to shelters, caused by torrential rains which hit Henan province as of 21st July, and to this date rescuers are trying to reach people trapped by water that rose with continued rains”. The condolences sent was through a letter addressed to the President of Red Cross Society of China Mr. Zhu Chen.

Bun Rany Hun Sen has also added, “In this difficult situation, on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, our Honorary President, and in the name of the Cambodian Red Cross and its staff and in my personal name, we would like to covey our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Your Excellency to the Red Cross Society of China, to the Chinese people, particularly to victim families and to those who lost their beloved ones”.

As of 23 July, at least 51 deaths were recorded after days of heavy rainfall swamped cities across the Henan province in east-central China.
