Quarantine Alternative Introduced

Phnom Penh: The Inter-Ministerial Commission for Combating Covid-19 has officially announced on Friday, the alternative quarantine option for international travelers coming into the country through Phnom Penh International Airport. The commission has chosen two hotel’s that can be pre-booked two days prior to their departure. The hotels that were chosen are Courtyard by Marriott Phnom Penh and Sokha Phnom Penh.

Upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport, the travelers are required to present the necessary documents such as valid visa issued by the Cambodian Embassy or from the Cambodian Consulate of the country concerned. Apart from the visa, they also have to present health certificate, Covid-19 negative result within 72 hours before departure, and health insurance that covers Covid-19 treatment.

In addition, the traveler also needs to present a copy of the two-week hotel reservation for quarantine. In the event that the health authority identifies the passenger as high risk of Covid-19 infection, they will not be allowed to proceed with the booked hotel; instead, they will be transferred to a health facility designated by the health ministry.

The announcement has alas clarified that in case of services not available in the booked hotels, a refund will be provided. The booked hotel is responsible for the transportation of the passenger from the airport. For travelers who do not use the booking services of the mentioned two hotels, they have to follow the existing procedures in force, including the $2000 deposit to guarantee the cost of the process.
