Royal Government Provides 100 Rice Transplanters to Rice Seed Communities

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed that he will provide 100 rice transplanters to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries for distribution to agricultural communities that produce rice seeds.

At the closing ceremony of the meeting to review the work of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on the afternoon of 24 March 2023, the Prime Minister called for the production of enough rice of the “pka romdoul” variety to meet market demand. He also encouraged the research of rice varieties that are resistant to weather and pollutants.

"We will provide [rice transplanters] to the rice farms. Planting seeds is important and we need to make it easier for farmers to grow," he said.

The Prime Minister underlined that he bought 100 rice transplanters from a Khmer company who had a booth at the River Festival in Kampong Thom, which he presided over on 9 March 2023.
