The international alumni award recognizes leaders in their industry, profession or field of research who have made or are making a significant difference in both local and/or wider communities. Being the Secretary of the State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, he has touched the lives of people in Cambodia through a variety of government programs that he has initiated.
“I believe this give a good recognition to Cambodia. As of yesterday, when it was announced, I was quite honoured myself but to be exact, it was not an honor for myself. It was an honor to the team who put the effort especially the leadership from the top – the Prime Minister, the strong commitment in helping the most vulnerable group, especially the poor people. I have been involved on this program with international body for so long. What we realize is that international body has said that our program is one of the best in the world - how we respond to Covid-19, the social protection scheme that we have. There are many cases that international UNDP and UNICEF. They have been requesting us to talk to speak internationally for the world to see it.”
Boros has highlighted the efforts that he has initiated together with the Cambodian government that enabled him to receive the award. He says the royal government’s cash support program and its social protection are just two of the many differences being made in the lives of Cambodians. He’s encouraging the younger generation to continue learning, to always seek knowledge and have a positive outlook in life.
