PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced that he will not accept any apology from those who insult the King or damage the reputation of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister’s announcement comes after authorities arrested two opposition activists Tuesday night, Mr. Hun Kosal and Mr. Yim Sinorn, in connection with posting insulting messages referencing the King on their personal Facebook accounts. The posts alluded to the Prime Minister putting himself above the King’s authority. The Prime Minister said that he did not make any exceptions for those who slandered the truth.

"This time, don't talk about the right to freedom of expression, but focus on those who slander," he said.

The Prime Minister also asked all TV stations to re-broadcast the Torch Lighting Ceremony lead by the King on 21 March so that the people could see the Prime Minister's respect for the King themselves.
