6th General Assembly to Promote French Language in Cambodia on 23 March

PHNOM PENH: The Council for the Promotion of Francophonie in Cambodia (CPFC) will hold its 6th General Assembly on Thursday, 23 March 2023, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The General Assembly will be chaired by Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chhiv Yi Seang.

The General Assembly will be attended by representatives from the CPFC Council, the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), higher education institutions, civil society, the private sector, the press and the Francophone community.

The conference will focus on key topics such as last year’s Francophone events in Cambodia and the Asia-Pacific region, the outcome of the 18th OIF summit in Tunisia, and French-speaking events to come in 2023. They will also discuss the CPFC statute update and the addition of new members.

The meeting will coincide with the first appearance of Edgar Doerig as the new representative for the OIF in the Asia-Pacific region, who took office in mid-March.

Select invitees will give presentations on the work of their respective institutions, as well as participate in activities that focus on promoting the French language in Cambodia and the Asia-Pacific region.

After the 6th General Assembly, a party will be held at Villa 5 Contemporary Cuisine at 6:30 pm to celebrate International Francophonie Day 2023, which commemorates the founding of the OIF and "321 million French speakers, billions of cultural moments.”
