Em Chan Makara Congratulates Hun Manith on his Promotion to Deputy Commander of the Army

PHNOM PENH: The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council, Em Chan Makara, has congratulated Lt. Gen. Hun Manith on being promoted to Deputy Commander of the Army.

Sec. State Em Chan Makara has said that he believes Hun Manith’s promotion to Deputy Commander of the Army, and his continued work as the Director of the Intelligence Research Department of the Ministry of National Defense, will help facilitate the Cambodian military’s defense and security work.

In a sub-decree dated 17 March 2023, Prime Minister Hun Sen promoted Lt. Gen. Hun Manith to Deputy Commander of the Army in addition to his current role as director of the Defense Ministry’s Military Intelligence Department.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manith is the second son of Prime Minister Hun Sen, and the younger brother of Gen. Hun Manet. Born in 1981, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith joined the army in 2009 then became Director of the Intelligence Research Department of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in 2015.

In addition to this role, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith is also the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Deputy Secretary General of the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution, and Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Resolving Strikes and Demonstrations.
