More Than 11,000 Athletes to Participate In the 2023 SEA and Para Games

SIEM REAP: Permanent Vice President of the National Organizing Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (CAMSOC) and Minister of Tourism Thong Khon, said that a total of more than 11,000 athletes will participate in the SEA Games and the Para Games, which Cambodia will host this year.

Speaking at the torch lighting ceremony at Angkor Wat Temple on Tuesday morning, 21 March 2023, Dr. Thong Khon confirmed that a total of 11,453 athletes which include citizens of 11 ASEAN countries will participate in the SEA and Para Games.

Dr. Thong Khon stated that 1,321 athletes from Cambodia will compete with 583 from Laos, 82 from Brunei, 1736 from Indonesia, 1121from the Philippines, 1443 from Malaysia, 663 from Myanmar, 1271 from Singapore, 1755 from Thailand, 1223 from Vietnam and 67 from Timor-Leste. There will be 36 sports represented at the SEA Games and 13 at the Para Games.

He went on to say: "The participation of sports delegates from different countries in many different sports is a sign of strength, solidarity, friendship and cooperation in the regional Olympic movement and is a testament to the support of Cambodia as the host the 2023 SEA Games and Para Games."
