Lt. Gen. Hun Manith Appointed Deputy Commander of the Army

PHNOM PENH: Lt. Gen. Hun Manith, son of the Prime Minister, has been appointed to Deputy Commander of the Army Forces.

In a sub-decree dated 17 March 2023, Prime Minister Hun Sen appointed Lt. Gen. Hun Manith to Deputy Commander of the Army in addition to his current role as director of the Defence Ministry’s Military Intelligence Department.

This decision was made at the same time that his brother, Gen. Hun Manet was promoted by the King to the rank of 4-Star General as Commander of the Army on 17 March.

It should also be noted that Lt. Gen. Hun Manith is the second son of Prime Minister Hun Sen, and the younger brother of Gen. Hun Manet. Born in 1981, Lt. Gen.Hun Manith joined the army in 2009 then became Director of the Intelligence Research Department of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in 2015.

In addition to this role, Lt. Gen. Hun Manith is also the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister's Office, Deputy Secretary General of the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution, and Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Resolving Strikes and Demonstrations.
