Foreign Ministers of Cambodia and Vietnam to Strengthen Cooperation in all Fields

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, DPM Prak Sokhonn, is paying an official state visit to Vietnam to co-chair the 20th Cambodia-Vietnam Joint Commission Meeting on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation from 20-22 March 2023.

During his visit, DPM Prak Sokhonn will hold bilateral meetings with Vietnamese Foreign Minister, Bùi Thanh Sơn, to discuss ways to further deepen existing bilateral relations.

The two sides are expected to further promote emerging cooperation in the following fields: politics, security, economy, trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, health, culture, education, and more. Cooperation within the ASEAN framework, and regional and international issues of common interest and concern will also be discussed.

The 20th Cambodia-Vietnam Joint Commission Meeting is intended to review the progress made by the two countries since the previous meeting, and to also prepare a new plan for practical action to be taken in order to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in all sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.

DPM Prak Sokhonn will also pay separate courtesy visits to Vietnamese President, Võ Văn Thưởng, and Vietnamese Prime Minister, Phạm Minh Chính.

The Cambodian Foreign Minister's official state visit, along with the 20th Cambodia-Vietnam Joint Commission Meeting, will provide an impetus for the strengthening of multilateral relations with deep-rooted political trust, as well as further bolster the traditional friendship, good neighborliness and long-term stability between Cambodia and Vietnam.
