PM Declares CPP is a Symbol of Real Change in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that he believes the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) is a symbol of real change in Cambodia.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for Build Bright University students on Thursday morning, 16 March 2023, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that from now on, the CPP will declare itself a symbol of change in Cambodia.

The Prime Minister said he is making this statement in response to a number of unnamed parties that have claimed that they are the real symbols of change in the country, while not producing any notable results.

"The CPP is the only party that can bring about change, so from now on we will say we are a symbol of change," he said.

The Prime Minister said he dares to claim that the CPP is a symbol of change for Cambodia because the party has played an instrumental role in transforming the country from a killing field to a land that respects the right to life. He said that the party facilitated the shift from war to peace and has helped Cambodia progress from a poor country to one with lower-middle income status. He added that Cambodia’s goal is to reach high-income country status by 2050.
