7th River Festival Attracts More Than 1 Million Tourists

KAMPONG THOM: From 7-10 March 2023, the 7th River Festival in Kampong Thom province attracted more than 1.2 million tourists and local visitors.

The Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, confirmed that there were about 18,500 visitors recorded on 7 March, while around 385,000 people visited on 8 March and around 405,000 people on 9 March, and about 320,000 people on 10 March. Visitors came from nine different cities, including from border provinces around the Tonle Sap Lake, such as Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Preah Vihear, Battambang, Pursat, Stung Treng and Kratie.

The Governor of Kampong Thom Province, Nguon Rattanak, also allowed the River Festival to continue for an extra two days over the weekend on 11-12 March, as many wished to continue visiting the festival and traders wished to continue their booth operations to make more profits.

The Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, previously predicted that the main three days of the river festival would attract at least 1 million tourists, and the final total was more than anyone expected.
