Hun Many Expresses Regret Over Last Night's Fire at Royal Residence in Siem Reap

SIEM REAP: The President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, Hun Many, has expressed his regret in seeing the Royal Residence in Siem Reap engulfed in flames on Sunday night, 12 March 2023.

Hun Many made a post on his official Facebook page writing, "I am shocked and saddened to learn of the fire that engulfed the Royal Residence in Siem Reap in flames on the night of 12 March 2023. As of this morning, the situation is fully under control."

"From this terrible incident, I would like to raise my hands to pray to the sacred objects and deities to protect the territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Queen Mother, your Royal Highnesses, may you both have perfect health, stay strong and please keep your trust in us," he further added.

Hun Many thanked the local authorities, especially the fire brigade, for doing their best to control the fire.

The Siem Reap Provincial Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Teng Channath, confirmed to EAC News that a fire broke out at the Royal Residence last night, however, authorities have not yet been able to determine the cause and full scope of the damage is. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.

Brigadier General Teng Channath also confirmed that the fire broke out at around 10:30 pm and the fire was fully extinguished at around 1 am, 13 March 2023.
