MPWT Opens New Public Service Centre in Siem Reap

Siem Reap: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, MPWT, has officially opened the country’s 5th public service centre at Siem Reap’s Heritage Walk Shopping Mall. The service centre aims to reduce service time and costs, as well as reduce paperwork. It’s also designed to bring services closer to the people.

Siem Reap Governor, Mr. Tea Seiha, has expressed his thanks for the new centre. He says that it will make it easier for the people of Siem Reap to access these services without going to the capital, Phnom Penh.

Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Sun Chanthol, says that it will indeed be more convenient for people to visit this new public service centre and access public services with transparency, efficiency and accountability through digital technology reform. The available services include processing of driver's licenses and exchange services, car registrations, car transfers of ownership and applications for technical inspections of vehicles.

Mr. Chanthol has urged the public to always follow traffic rules in the country to avoid violations that might lead to the confiscation of their license. He says that the MPWT and the General Commission of the National Police of the Ministry of Interior have cooperated to introduce a point system for drivers, as well as fines for certain offences. He says bad driving and resultant accidents are costing Cambodia more than $350-million a year.

The MPWT’s public service centre can be found on the 2nd floor of Heritage Walk, located on Street 158, Sangkat Svay Dangkum in Siem Reap City. It is open from 8am to 8pm.
