Hun Manet Continues to Boost Security and Defense Cooperation with Turkey

PHNOM PENH: The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Cambodia, Ülkü Kocaefe, at the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces headquarters on Thursday, 2 March 2023, to discuss work and welcome her to the Kingdom since being appointed as Ambassador in July 2022.

During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet expressed his support for the direction set by Cambodia and Turkey’s respective governments and ministries of defense in further promoting security and defense cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed his condolences to the Turkish Ambassador over the devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey recently and thanked the Turkish government and people for their good relations and cooperation with Cambodia over the past years.

Ambassador Ülkü Kocaefe, in turn, spoke highly of the good cooperation between Turkey and Cambodia in all fields, including in diplomacy, trade, agriculture, tourism and education, and further expressed her motivation to continue strengthening and expanding active cooperation between the Turkish and Cambodian armies.

She also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for the condolences and financial support provided to the Turkish people in light of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria in early February 2023.
