PM Approves Cambodia's Sub-National Transfer of Power

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed his satisfaction with the decentralization reform process, saying that this success has helped Cambodia to overcome the fight against Covid-19 and other disasters.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the meeting to review the work of the Ministry of Interior in 2022, and set the work direction for 2023, on Thursday, 23 February, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the process of decentralization and transfer of power to the sub-national level is intended to strengthen the capacity to respond to urgent issues on the local level.

"The success of the fight against Covid-19 and other disasters also marks the success of decentralization and deconcentration reforms," he said.

The Prime Minister promotes the process of decentralization and the transfer of power to the sub-national level, both in terms of financing and the appointment of officials.
