KOH KONG: The Governor of Koh Kong Province, Mithona Phu Thong, has confirmed that the Dara Sakor International Airport, located in Botum Sakor District, Koh Kong Province, has been completed and will be ready to open in the middle of 2023.

The Governor made this statement at the press conference summarizing the achievements made by the Koh Kong Provincial Administration over the past five years, held at the Office of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday afternoon, 21 February 2023.

"The airport at Dara Sakor is now 100% complete, and the company has set [mid-2023] for flights to begin without further delays," she said.

Dara Sakor International Airport was built by the Chinese firm, Tianjin Union Development Group (UDG). The firm received an economic land concession from the government to build the airport and develop other areas in Botum Sakor District in Koh Kong province, by the Gulf of Thailand.

Dara Sakor Airport was built on an area of more than 218 hectares at a cost of US $200 million, and is capable of landing large aircrafts like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A340.
