Cambodia Condemns North Korea's Repeated Missile Launches

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has condemned North Korea's repeated firing of missiles, including two launches on Monday, 20 February 2023, off its east coast into the Pacific.

The Prime Minister stated that he condemns North Korea for these actions during a meeting with the new Korean Ambassador to Cambodia, Park Jung Wook, on Monday afternoon at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

He stressed that the missile launch violated UN Security Council resolutions, escalated tensions and threatened security and peace in the Korean Peninsula and around the world.

The Prime Minister's personal asssitant, Eang Sophalleth, confirmed to the media after the meeting that the Prime Minister made these remarks after the new South Korean Ambassador raised concerns over the threat to peace on the Korean Peninsula, and the world, caused by North Korea's repeated missile launches.

Monday marked North Korea's second missile launch in 2023. Two days earlier, on 18 February, North Korea fired its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) of the year into the Pacific, while South Korea and the United States were holding joint military exercises.
