VIETNAM: Cambodia has won the best national costume category in a string of recent pageants, and in fact, another national representative won this award yesterday at Miss Charm International 2023, beating out 37 other beauty queens.

Miss Charm Cambodia, Bee Sotheary, took part in the Miss Charm International 2023 pageant on Thursday, 16 February 2023, hosted in Vietnam, and won the best national costume award wearing a costume inspired by the majestic peacock — an animal that symbolizes purity, power, strength, confidence and divinity. The peacock is also one of the animals that represents Pailin province in Cambodia, and since ancient times, Khmer ancestors have created many traditional dances inspired by the graceful birds with the most beautiful feathers.

Although Bee Sotheary did not manage to make it into the runner-up list, she did her best to show her talents and ability, garnering the attention and love of both national and international fans.

The winner of Miss Charm International 2023 was Miss Charm Brazil, Luma Russo, while Miss Charm Philippines, Annabelle McDonnell was named the first runner-up.

It is noteworthy that several Cambodian national representatives have recently won the best national costume award at a series of beauty pageants, allowing the international community to become more aware of Cambodia and the beauty of Khmer culture, traditions, and society.
