PHNOM PENH: In January 2023, the General Department of Taxation collected about US $300 million in taxes of all kinds, equivalent to 8.42% of the 2023 total outlined in the legal plan on "Finance for Management 2023".

According to a press release from the General Department of Taxation, tax revenue collected in January, compared to December 2022, increased by US $12.36 million, equivalent to 4.29%.

Revenue from major tax categories maintained an increase over the same period in 2022: 20.73% increase in income tax, 8.57% increase in value added tax, and 18.07% increase in tax salary.

The General Department of Taxation has stated it will continue to strengthen the promotion and implementation of tax revenue management from the gambling and casino sector, and will continue to implement tax collection measures in accordance with the procedures in force for enterprises that still owe tax debts and need to settle their taxes properly.

The Department added that it will continue to implement measures to inspect street enterprises and real estate, and will continue to strengthen and expand the scope of implementation of the mechanism to print invoices on property taxes and unused land taxes and distribute them to all taxpayers' homes.
