PHNOM PENH: On Thursday evening, 16 February 2023, the Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross, Pum Chantyny, received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of Finland to Cambodia and Thailand, Jyri Järvaiaho, at the Cambodian Red Cross Headquarters.

"The Cambodian Red Cross has cooperated well with the Finnish Red Cross since the 1990s, and has supported many programs [in Cambodia]," she said. "In 2022, the Finnish Red Cross also selected the Cambodian Red Cross, among Southeast Asian Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, for the three-year DG-ECHO-sponsored local humanitarian and health promotion program through the International Federation (IFRC), which ran from 2022-2023."

The Secretary-General also relayed a message from the President of the Cambodian Red Cross, First Lady Bun Rany Hun Sen, to the Finnish Ambassador, thanking him for taking the time to visit the Cambodian Red Cross Headquarters.

Finnish Ambassador Jyri Järvaiaho, in turn, thanked and expressed his appreciation for the Cambodian Red Cross, which he described as a national association that leads in the field of humanitarian aid and has a good international reputation.

"I will come to Cambodia again in the future to help promote the [association's] work and provide effective experience," he said.
