Cambodia-Laos Discuss Building High-Speed Rail Between Two Countries

VIENTIANE: Cambodia and Laos have discussed building a high-speed rail line between the two countries and which also connects with other countries.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said during a press conference with the Prime Minister of Laos, Sorn Sai Siphandon, on Monday afternoon, 13 February 2023, “Our discussions also covered issues related to tourism, including land and air tourism, and connecting our cities, especially Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, which can provide opportunities for tourists to travel between both Laos and Cambodia.”

Prime Minister Hun Sen added that the two countries also agreed to connect Champasak province with Preah Vihear province and with Ratanakkiri province in between.

“This is to provide a favorable people to people relationship," he said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen continued that the two countries will also make efforts to work on border issues to become peaceful and cooperative neighbors that are able to mutually solve problems together in the future.
