PM Hun Sen: Cambodia Will Exchange Prisoners with Laos Unconditionally

VIENTIANE: Prime Minister Hun Sen has affirmed the Prime Minister of Laos, Sorn Sai Siphandon, that Cambodia will exchange prisoners with Laos unconditionally. The Cambodian Prime Minister confirmed this matter during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Laos on Monday afternoon, 13 February 2023, during a state visit to Vientiane.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Sorn Sai Siphandon, Prime Minister Hun Sen said, “Cambodia does not need to wait for a reaction, Cambodia has decided to return prisoners in Cambodia to Laos before the Khmer New Year.”

Prime Minister Hun Sen added that Cambodia also already has a similar prisoner exchange plan with Thailand for before the Khmer New Year.

"I also told DPM Sar Kheng to work with the Minister of Justice to do this work as soon as possible," he said.
