Royal Government Spokesman Rejects the Article Made by VOD News

Phnom Penh: The spokesman of the Royal Government confirmed that the head of the unit, Mr. Phay Siphan, did not mention that Mr. Hun Manet signed on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Sen about the aids to Turkey.

In a press release issued on 11 February, the unit stated: "The information that HE Dr. Hun Manet has signed the grant document is stated by journalists who have no real source of information. "Therefore, the information broadcast by Voice of Democracy (VOD) is a rumor and a fabrication inspired by this radio journalist only."

The announcement comes after VOD, an online newspaper on February 9, 2023, wrote that it had quoted government spokesman Phay Siphan as confirming the Royal Government aid to Turkey. That the signing of by Hun Manet on behalf of PM is not wrong.

The report stated that: "the Cambodian government announced $ 100,000 in humanitarian aid to earthquake-stricken Turkey, with Hun Manet representing Prime Minister Hun Sen to sign the aid while Hun Sen is mourning the loss of his sister-in-law."

This post made Mr. Manet, asked VOD to show evidence and apologize, and to immediately edit the information and make it public so as not to confuse the public in this matter.

On the evening of the 11th, after PM Hun Sen returned from China, he announced a 72-hour VOD time to apologize to the Royal Government and Mr. Hun Manet after publishing this information. After the deadline, the government may file a lawsuit.
