Cambodia Donates US $100,000 to the Turkish government

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian government has decided to donate US $100,000 in humanitarian aid to Turkey to support relief efforts following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake earlier this week.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday, 8 February 2023, the Cambodian government was shocked to learn the news of the tragic loss of thousands of lives, tens of thousands injured, as well as extensive damage caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the south eastern provinces of Turkey on Monday, 6 February.

The Royal Government would like to extend its sincere condolences to the Government and people of Turkey, especially the families of the victims. At the same time, the Royal Government wishes all those who are injured and living in the affected areas to recover and be rehabilitated as soon as possible.

The quake has killed at least 8,400 people in Turkey and Syria, with 5,894 dead in Turkey and 2,470 dead in Syria, while hundreds of thousands more are currently stranded after their homes collapsed. The World Health Organization estimates the death toll could rise to 20,000.
