SVAY RIENG: Pictures of two seniors graduating from Svay Rieng university have attracted a lot of attention on social media, as the story behind the images is one of great tragedy and sorrow.
The parents of a former Svay Rieng University student attended the university graduation ceremony on Monday, 30 January 2023, to receive the degree on behalf of their son who passed away.
Their son, Chhan Sonthea, was a mathematics student.
According to a personal Facebook account under the name Sam Thavy, Chhan Sonthea died of accidental electrocution. Sam Thavy wrote saying that it was the most sorrowful thing to see the student's parents at the graduation ceremony.
"It would be very sad if all of you had experienced this incident, when the parents have to receive their beloved son's degree," she wrote.
Along with this post, many on social media have extended their condolences to the parents over this great loss.
