PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has signed an agreement with the Finnish Red Cross (FRC) to promote humanitarian activities and community health in Cambodia.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday morning, 30 January 2023, at the CRC Headquarters in Phnom Penh, between the Secretary General of the CRC, Pum Chantyny, and FRC Officer for Asia, Sari Autio.

Autio thanked the CRC for allowing the FRC team to continue working and collaborating on humanitarian work in Cambodia.

Secretary-General, Pum Chantyny, said the President of the CRC, First Lady Bun Rany Hun Sen, decided on 7 April 2022 to implement a program to promote humanitarian activities and local health focusing on three areas: pandemic preparedness, disaster response management and promoting community participation by integrating branch and sub-branch development work in target provinces to improve digital technology, the environment, the situation of climate change, gender relations, and more.

She added that this initiative offers an opportunity to enhance cooperation with partners towards the goal of successfully implementing the 2030 Cambodian Red Cross Strategy.

At the same ceremony, the CRC Secretary-General and the leaders of four branches in Banteay Meanchey, Pailin, Tbong Khmum and Kandal provinces, signed an agreement to receive donations of motorbikes and office equipment from the FRC, contributing to the program promoting humanitarian activities and community health.

The representatives of the CRC thanked the Finnish side for providing these office supplies for their community-based humanitarian operations and for their continued commitment to helping the people of Cambodia.
