Poor Students to Receive Free Vocational Training and a Monthly Allowance

PHNOM PENH: According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia will put into effect a new policy to provide a monthly allowance and free vocational training to underprivileged youth by the beginning of next year.

During the graduation ceremony of students from the Cambodian University for Specialties (CUS) on Monday morning, 23 January 2023, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the goal is to provide 1.5 million poor students with free vocational training every year.

"If we support about 1.5 million youth, it could help integrate the informal economy with the formal economy," he said.

The Prime Minister affirmed that this idea will be implemented by the end of this year, or by early next year at the latest.
