Five Arrested For Snatching Chinese Woman's Purse

SIHANOUKVILLE: The Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police arrested five suspects, four men and one woman, for stealing a Chinese woman's purse in front of the Nanhai Hotel in Village 1, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville. The robbery took place on Friday, 13 January 2023, around midnight.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissioner, Chuon Narin, said on Sunday, 14 January, that the five suspects confessed that they had indeed robbed the Chinese woman. Four of them worked together using two motorbikes to snatch the woman's purse while the other took the victim's phone to sell.

The five suspects are aged between 18 to 21. One works as a waiter, two work in food delivery services, one is a student, and one is unemployed.

In addition to arresting the five suspects, the police also confiscated two 125cc motorbikes (red and black), a black handbag, a passport, one white iPhone 14 ProMax, and some accessories (belonging to the victim).

Currently, the five suspects are being detained for further legal proceedings.
