BANTEAY MEANCHEY: At the graduation ceremony of 1,700 students from the University of Management and Economics in Banteay Meanchey province on Thursday, 12 January 2023, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet said that the development of human resources with high skills and knowledge continues to play a key role in building a strong, resilient and sustainable economic growth base for Cambodia.
Lt. Gen. Hun Manet stated that human resource development is the top priority of the Royal Government, set in its rectangular strategy.
"Of course, financial and physical resources are important for economic and social development, but if human resources are lacking in quantity and quality, development may be hindered or delayed," he said.
In addition, he also stated that Cambodia continues to see an economic growth rate of around 4 to 7%, moving the country quickly towards achieving upper-middle income country status by 2030 and high income status by 2050.
Lt. Gen. Hun Manet further highlighted that the noble academic achievements made by students not only helps their ability to earn a living, but is also an achievement for their family. He said this is a positive response to the nation’s wealth expectations, which requires human resources with the ability and virtue to work together to continue strengthening peace and developing the motherland in all fields.
"Human resource development can lead to prosperity, guarantee competitiveness, economic growth and poverty reduction, and in particular, ensure independence in all areas, just like what the Royal Government, led by the Cambodian People's Party, strove to achieve since 1979 and will continue to do so while moving forward with all generations of people," he said.
