Two Chinese Nationals Arrested for Armed Robbery

PHNOM PENH: A Chinese woman was robbed of US $739 in Tonle Bassac commune, Phnom Penh, by two Chinese suspects carrying a gun and a knife on 7 January 2023. The two suspects were apprehended and taken to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police.

The first suspect is a 43-year-old man who drives for a casino, while the second suspect is a 36-year-old man with an unknown occupation. Both reside in the Chamkar Mon district of Phnom Penh.

According to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, the police arrested the two suspects in front of the entrances to Borey Chamkarmon on Preah Norodom Street, Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkarmon district, Phnom Penh on 7 January, at 2:30 pm. The two were arrested for suspected involvement in an armed robbery case (using a LOCK 19 pistol and a folding knife, robbing US $739) at "Houy Yov" Shop in Group 78, Village 14, Tonle Bassac commune, Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh, on 6 January 2023 at 5:30 pm. The victim of the robbery was a 34-year-old woman named Fang Fang.

Police seized one black LOCK 19 pistol and two pistol magazines with 17 bullets.

The suspects are currently being detained by the Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for further legal procedure.
