Man Kills Ex-Wife With Axe After Being Rejected

BATTAMBANG: A man seeking to reconcile with his ex-wife after a recent divorce got drunk and hit her head with an axe in anger of being rejected. The woman died on the way to the hospital.

The gruesome incident occurred on Sunday, 8 January 2023, at 7:30 pm at Group 12, Tuol Prum 2 Village, Kor Koh Commune, Maung Russey District, Battambang Province.

Upon being alerted of the incident, the Maung Russey District Police Inspectorate immediately arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect, 38-year-old Khon Sokna, and sent him to the Maung Russey District Police Inspectorate for questioning. They then forwarded the case to the specialized office for further legal action.

The Mong Russey District Police Inspectorate confirmed that the couple had not officially registered their marriage certificate and that the divorce was done with the acknowledgement of the village chief.
