Pay for Contracted Officials Will Increase in January to 710,000 Riel

PHNOM PENH: According to a Royal Government sub-decree issued on Wednesday, 4 January 2023, the salaries of contracted officials will increase from 670,000 riel to 710,000 riel. The sub-decree will go into effect starting from 1 January 2023.

The sub-decree states that the salary increase will be applied to contracted officials who work in ministries and national and sub-national institutions in accordance with the provisions of Sub-Decree No. 26, dated 10 February 2016, on the management of contracted officials.

In addition to raising the salaries of contracted officials, the Royal Government is also increasing the salaries of civil servants by 1,300,000 riel and those of teachers and doctors by 1,400,000 riel. Police officers' salaries will also rise from 1,256,977 riel (including rice allowance) in 2022, to approximately 1,384,477 riel (including rice allowance) in January 2023.

Separately, the salaries of soldiers will increase from 1,125,500 riel (excluding rice provision) in 2022 to about 1,251,000 riel (excluding rice provision). If the rice provision is included, the salary is around 1309,477 riel, starting from January 2023.

The Royal Government has also allocated 50 billion riel to the health care fund for all civil servants, members of the Armed Forces, and retirees, and will continue to provide 6 billion riel to support the occupational risk social security system for public officials within the budget of the Ministry of Health.
