Cambodia Earned More Than US $1.2 Billion from Rice Exports in 2022

PHNOM PENH: In 2022, Cambodia exported 637,004 tons of rice to international markets and exported an additional 3,467,886 tons of paddy rice to Vietnam, coming to a total of more than US $1.2 billion.

According to a report from the Cambodian Rice Federation, Cambodia exported 637,004 tons of rice to 59 international markets worth a total of US $418.29 million,

From the 59 markets Cambodia exported rice to, 288,830 tons, or 45%, went to China, Hong Kong and Macau. Additionally, a total volume of 221,504 tons, or 35%, was exported to 25 European countries, and 64,733 tons, or 10%, was exported to four ASEAN member countries.

A total volume of 61,937 tons, or 10%, of Cambodian rice was also exported to 27 other countries and islands, including in Africa, the United States, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, and more.

From the total exports, 277,739 tons, or 44%, was premium aromatic rice, 179,070 tons, or 28%, was fragrant rice, 153,428 tons, or 24%, was white rice, 15,781 tons, or 2%, was parboiled rice, 10,963 tons, or close to 2%, was organic rice, and 23 tons was glutinous rice.

Meanwhile, paddy rice exports to Vietnam alone amounted to 3,477,886 tons, coming to a total valuation of about US $841.09 million.
