Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister has removed Phu Lik, the deputy governor of Kep Province, following allegations that he assaulted a married woman by hurling a bottle of wine at her, causing head injuries that required close to 20 stitches.
In a sub-decree signed by the Prime Minister Hun Sen and dated December 31, 2022, Mr. Phu Lik was removed from his position as the Deputy Governor of Kep Province.
The removal before New Year's Eve came after Phu Lik threw a wine bottle at a woman, resulting in severe head wounds that required close to 20 stitches. The incident happened at a party for Mr. In Sao, the newly appointed director of Kep Province's Department of Environment, on the night of December 29, 2022.
Now that Mr. Phu Lik has been removed from his position as Deputy Governor of Kep, what the public expects to see next is him being held accountable for his actions.
The removal of the deputy governor reminds us of the five approaches of PM Hun Sen, which instructed the officers to take a bath, look in the mirror, clean the body, apply treatment, and conduct surgery. If there is rotten meat (a bad official), surgery will be conducted to discard it.
