Internet Explorer Will Disappear From Your Computer for Good

INTERNATIONAL: Days of the good old internet with dialup, plugging the internet into the phone socket, disconnecting the phone. Modem Cable, wireless, and satellite. The changes of the internet have grown so fast over the years.

Writing a letter or even a postcard, to sending emails to keep in contact with work, friends and even love ones are all but gone now. Technology has taken the world by storm.

Now we are saying goodbye to one of the few remaining icons of a bygone internet age.

Internet Explorer announced its retirement last year and the browser of old will soon disappear from our computers.

Microsoft has announced the official date when the iconic icon will be permanently deleted from desktops and taskbars.

On Valentine’s Day 2023, a Microsoft Edge update will finally retire the desktop application.

The update will be delivered to all devices, both commercial and consumer, at the same time.

Users will be unable to reverse the change.

“The retired, out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled through a Microsoft Edge update on certain versions of Windows 10 on February 14, 2023,” Microsoft said.

Icons on the taskbar and in the start menu will disappear four months later.

“IE11 visual references, such as the IE11 icons on the Start Menu and taskbar, will be removed by the June 2023 Windows security update (“B” release) scheduled for June 13, 2023,” Microsoft said.

Microsoft warned businesses still using Internet Explorer to make the switch to Microsoft Edge before 14 February to avoid any technical disruptions.

Support for the application by Microsoft 10 was pulled in June 2022, signaling the official retirement of the once industry-leading browser which launched in 1995.

It became one of the most popular ways for people to access the internet, and produced 11 versions between 1995 and 2013.
